Mr William Lawrence Lee Jr

Bill “BB” Lee was well known for his love of family, floundering and his beloved family home in Magnolia Springs, Al. William Lawrence Lee, Jr, 89 of Magnolia Springs, Al passed away peacefully in his home Thanksgiving afternoon, November 23, 2023, after a quick decline of dementia. Bill was born in Mobile, Al in 1934 to Lawrence and Clara Lee who moved their family to Magnolia Springs in the 1960’s, eventually established the family home on Oak Street, where Bill’s fondest memories live. Life for Bill really began one day when he and his good friend Larry Cole asked the Vance sisters (Nancy and Carolyn) out on a double date. Bill worked as a truck driver and was on the road quite a bit, but his love for Nancy was clear as they wrote sweet letters to one another, Bill married his sweetheart Nancy April 13, 1957. Soon they started to build their family with the birth of their three children Larry, Kim and Randy. The early years of their marriage were spent between Mobile and Magnolia Springs, AL. In 1972 a promotion with Texaco moved the young Lee family to the Orlando area. As often as he could, Bill would travel back to Magnolia Springs to be with his parents, sister, aunts, uncles, cousins, and childhood friends. He loved showing off his “hometown” to Texaco executives who would drop their fancy titles for a weekend of fishing with Bill, many times sleeping on cots on the family’s wrap around porch. Bill retired from Texaco in January 1993, and he and Nancy split their time between Florida and Alabama, as they had family and friends in both that they adored. After Nancy passed away in 2008 from a long hard-fought battle with Cancer, Bill moved back to Magnolia Springs full time to care for his mother. Retirement for Bill was filled with floundering with friends, watching NASCAR, cheering on BAMA football and swapping stories of the “good ole days” with his lifelong friends. He was beloved by many and at some point, young children began to refer to him as Uncle BB, which brought a smile every time he heard this reference. Bill was proud of his three children, who all lead very different lives, but showered their father with love and admiration. Bill is survived by son Larry Lee (65), daughter Kim Wolfe (63) and Randy Lee (58) his wife Jennifer and grandchildren Brandy Wolfe (42) and Laura Lee (42). Those that knew Bill, are missing him already, however comforted in knowing that he is reunited with his wife Nancy, his mother and father, sister and brother-in-law and numerous other family members and lifelong friends. The family will be accepting family and friends Wednesday December 6th from 12:30 to 2:15 at Pine Rest Funeral Home followed by a grave side service.
