Mrs. Julie Ann Johnson Deskin

Julie Ann Johnson Deskin, 87, of Orange Beach, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2026. She went peacefully in her sleep on the water with her pup right beside her. Just the way she wanted it to be. Julie was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on September 19, 1938, to Ila Orr Johnson and Roy Johnson. She had one sister Shirley Johnson Newsom. Julie's parents eventually moved to Columbus Mississippi, where she attended school. Julie became a wife at a young age, married an Air Force Pilot and traveled all over the United States. She raised four kids by herself without the help of family while her husband was flying around the world fighting in the Cold War and Vietnam. She eventually moved to Orange Beach, Alabama, in the late 70's where she owned and operated a successful restaurant and Linen/cleaning business. Julie loved the beach life, fishing, shrimping and cooking for others. She loved all animals and allowed her kids to have all sorts of them in her house, even snakes. One day while we were all cuddling with her, we put the snake in her bed which caused such a fright! Wherever she lived she had a house full of cats and dogs. Mom gave her life to the Lord Jesus and was baptized in Lake Shelby, Orange Beach, Alabama with her daughter Vickie by pastor Rick Long. She hosted Bible studies in her home for many years where she learned God's word and made lasting friendships. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly A. McGinley (Robert) and grandson Dallas B. Jones and great grandkids Merrick, Sage and Eliana. Her Son, Scott D. Alexander (Kit) and granddaughter Sydney Alexander Heidrick (Zachary). Stepchildren Roy Deskin, and Jeff Deskin. And several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband John A. Deskin, daughter Vickie M. Vines, her mother, father, sister, stepdaughter Sherry Deskin, and a special cousin, Sherry Flood. A special thanks for Dorothy Smith and Wendy Dukes who cared for mom 24 hours a day for almost 3 years. Without their love, devotion and care, mom would have never made it to almost 88 years old. There will be a private burial service Friday July 31, 2026, 10:00am at Pine Rest Funeral Home, Foley Alabama. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her honor to the "Friends" of the Mobile Animal Shelter, fomaspets.org.
