Mrs. Jennifer Melissa Price Byrd Boesel

Jennifer Melissa Price Byrd Boesel (Melissa) passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19th in her home in Gulf Shores after battling cancer for many years. Melissa was born in Mobile Alabama on October 1, 1976, to Dan and Sue Price. She grew up in Bay Minette and graduated from Baldwin County High School. She received a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy in 2001 from the University of Central Florida. She was a caregiver at heart and served many patients as a Physical Therapist. She was employed at Centerwell Home Health as a PT. She was a member of the Alabama Physical Therapy Organization. Melissa had two beautiful children, Jayden and Jensen. Jayden is taking after her mother and has become a Paramedic in Baldwin County. Jensen was a lively little boy who suffered from cancer and passed away at the age of 5. After Jensen’s passing, Melissa formed Jensen’s Heart of Gold Foundation and served as the President for over 12 years. Her charity raised over a Million dollars to help kids with childhood cancer in Baldwin and Mobile counties. It was her passion to help kids not suffer and to help ease the financial burdens that cancer brings to families. Melissa loved playing softball all her life. She took that passion and created the Super Mario Softball Tournament in honor of her son, Jensen. The tournament became the main fundraiser for Jensen’s Heart of Gold and it was the highlight of the year for many who participated. Melissa brought awareness to childhood cancer every September during Childhood Cancer Month. Melissa loved to travel and have new adventures. She traveled to many places internationally with her family and friends. Melissa took her love of helping children to Haiti as a mission trip for several years where she taught the children yoga. Melissa became very passion about yoga and became a yoga instructor. She spent many years helping people understand their bodies and how yoga can calm the mind and body. She taught yoga at Glow Yoga in Gulf Shores for many years. Melissa found the love of her life, AlanShane Boesel (Squeak) and they were married on February 24, 2024, in Gulf Shores. She became a second mom to his children, Raeleigh and Parker. She was a devoted mother and wife. She loved with her whole heart and would light up any room that she entered. Melissa is loved by many friends, former patients and family. Jason Price, her brother from Bay Minette, was always Melissa’s biggest fan and supporter throughout her life. Melissa is preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Sue Price of Bay Minette, and her son, Jensen Byrd. She is survived by her husband, AlanShane Boesel (Squeak), her daughter, Jayden Byrd, and stepchildren, Raeleigh and Parker Boesel, as well as her brother, Jason Price. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in Gulf Shores later in April. Melissa requested contributions to be made in her memory to No More Umbrellas.org.
