Phyllis H Murphy Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

It is with great sadness that the family of Phyllis Hollingsworth Murphy announces her passing on Tuesday, April 26 5:25am at the age of 83. She was married for 60 years to the love of her life, Ernest L. Murphy who passed in 2017. We are certain she was welcomed with his warm embrace she so deeply missed. She was born in Muncie, Indiana and lived most of her life in New Orleans, Louisiana until Katrina brought them to Foley, Alabama, where she and Ernie resided for 16 years. Her greatest passion was her family. She was the most devoted Wife, Mother, MawMaw and Aunt. Phyllis retired from Saks Fifth Avenue in New Orleans and she loved her Saints and LSU Tigers! She also loved people, so to keep active during retirement she became an employee of Ginny Lane in Orange Beach, Alabama where, for 13 years, she was loved and respected by all. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur “Red” and Gladys L. Hollingsworth. Her sister, Leona Upton and her brothers, Robert Cannon, Ronald Hollingsworth, James Hollingsworth and Richard Hollingsworth. She is survived by her two daughters Patricia M. Wink (John) and Sheri M. Daverede (Louis); grandchildren Bradley Daverede (Belle), Victoria W. Traughber (Chris) and Brielle D. Hart (Kenneth). She also has two beautiful great-granddaughters whom she adored – Chapel Jay and Carday Jo Daverede. Visitation will be held at Pine Rest Funeral Home from 10:30am-12:00 noon, followed by the funeral service in the Chapel.
