Mr Phillip Wayne Bass
February 2, 1940 - December 20, 2020
Mr. Bass passed away with his family by his side at his home on December 20, 2002 following a long illness. He was 80 years old and was married to his wife Boots for 61 years. They had actually been best friends since the first grade at Bowmar Avenue Elementary in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He is also survived by two sons, Ty Bass (Karen), Bryan Bass (Donna) a granddaughter, Britny and his sister, Linda Way of Pensacola, FL. Mr. Bass was a licensed commercial pilot and was the owner and operator of Bass Aviation for Twelve years. It was a national jet charter, Air ambulance and modification center but was severely damaged by Hurricane Frederick in 1979. Mr. Bass also developed, owned and operated South Alabama Utility/ South Alabama Sewer Service in Gulf Shores, Alabama until 2005 when he sold the company. He attended Mississippi State University and graduated from Mississippi College with a BS in Business Administration & Economics. He was President of the Gulf Shores Rotary Club receiving the Rotarian of the Year and the Paul Harris Fellow awards. He was a commissioned military officer in the Mississippi Army National Guard serving as Company Commander of the Engineering Headquarters Group in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The family would like to sincerely thank the nurses, caretakers and staff of Covenant Care Hospice for their loving, gentle care with a special “thank you” to Glenn Snell, his personal caregiver! A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is being planned for the near future.
