Mrs. Kay Lamar Mannschreck

December 21, 1931 - January 19, 2022

Kay Lamar Mannschreck, 90, of Birmingham, AL, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at UAB Palliative Care surrounded by her loving family. Kay was born in Independence, MO, December 21, 1931, the daughter of Edith Petrie Macklin. She graduated from Topeka High Scholl (KS) in 1949. She was married to Dean Mannschreck on June 12, 1949 until his passing in 2008. She is survived by her children, Gary Mannschreck, Ron Mannschreck, Cora Koontz (Greg) and Sandra Mannschreck; Her grandchildren, Sandy Mills (Christopher) and James Koontz (Ashleigh); and her great grandchildren, Dean and Anna Mills, and Henry and Wyatt Koontz. Kay is preceded in death by her husband Dean; her mother Edith, and many other loved ones including the recent passing of her niece Linda Boleski Kay worked in a hospital chaplain's office for many years. In her later years she worked alongside husband in real estate and development. She enjoyed painting, drawing, nature, traveling, flower gardening and singing in her church choir. She was generous with her listening and helping others. She loved her family and church family dearly. Kay found strength in her close relationship with Christ and found comfort reading from her Bible daily. When faced with challenging health problems she never gave up. When given a choice she said "I want to go home to God my Creator". She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm Monday, January 24, 2022 at Robertsdale Community of Christ, 18700 Florida St., Robertsdale, AL 36567 to be followed at 2:00 pm by a Christian Service to celebrate her life.
