Mr. Howell Scott Stinson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Howell Scott Stinson (1955-2022) Scott Stinson of West Palm Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on May 25, 2022, at the Veterans Administration West Palm Beach Healthcare Hospice Center. Scott was born in 1955. in Anniston, Alabama the son of the late Thomas Edwin and Julia Brown Stinson. He is survived by his seven loving children Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Scott Stinson and wife Rachael, Jordan Stinson McKinley and husband Major Ryan McKinley, Jacob Andrew Stinson, Rebecca Ann Stinson, Rachel Leah Stinson and husband Jiyan Babaie-Harmon, Israel Thomas Stinson, First Lieutenant Sarah Ruth Stinson; the devoted mother of his children Lori Kay Mitchel; his sister Robin Stinson Maxwell and husband John; and his brother Andrew Brown Stinson and wife Kristin. Scott was preceded in death by his older brother Thomas Edwin Stinson, Jr. Scott was also blessed with six grandchildren, Benjamin Nicholas Stinson, Jonathan Thomas Stinson, Jackson Daniel Roby, Juliet Elizabeth McKinley, McAyla Rose Stinson, and David Jacob Stinson. Scott grew up in Anniston and Gadsden, Alabama, and after school joined the United States Air Force where he was an Air Traffic Controller. After the Air Force Scott went on to complete his educational studies and was a lifelong student of the Bible. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Biblical Studies and devoted most of his professional years to teaching, writing, and researching Old Testament Biblical Studies. His profession took him to South Africa in 2006 where he lived until returning to the U.S. 2019. Upon his return to the U.S., he settled in West Palm Beach to focus on fighting his battle with cancer. During the last three years Scott lived a peaceful life under the medical care of the West Palm Beach Veterans Medical Center. Visits with his children and grandchildren over the last few years provided him great solace during his failing health. Scott’s family will have a private burial ceremony at the Pine Rest Cemetery in Foley, Alabama.
