Major Charles B. Plowman, USMC, Retired, age 77, was born in Camden, Alabama on January 1, 1942. The third youngest of 8 children to Benjamin Franklin and Gladys L. Plowman, he was known to friends and family as Charlie. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1960 where he served our country for 32 years through the Bay of Pigs invasion during the Cuban Missile Crisis and two combat tours in Vietnam. Charlie retired at the rank of Major in 1992. He then taught Marine Corps JROTC at Leon County High School for 14 years. He was Leon High School’s first Senior Marine Corps Instructor. After retiring from that position, Leon High School named its shooting range after him, the Major C.B. Plowman Range. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lolita Plowman of Orange Beach, Alabama; sons Witt Mann (Krystal) and Charles Plowman Jr.; daughters Miki Plowman, Cindy Abreu (Keoni) and Brooke Allen (Andrew); grandchildren Corey Cox (Kayla), Zach Cox, Gabriel Cox, Frankie Abreu, Frank Bubba Abreu, Charlie Abreu, Jonnie Abreu and Makynlee Allen; great grandchildren Kona Cox; and brother Doug Plowman (Doris).
