Beverly “Jean” Spencer, 87, passed away October 14, 2021, at her home in Lillian, AL. Jean was born in Elkhart, Indiana to Edward E. and Virginia Verbarg Gampher. After completing her Registered Nursing education at the University of Indiana and special training in psychiatric nursing in Massillon, Ohio she moved to Pensacola. She retired after 38 years from Baptist Hospital as assistant director of nursing. While working and raising her children she attended Troy State receiving her BS degree. Preceding her in death were her parents, Virginia Sanders, Lewis Sanders, and Edward Gampher. Preceding her also were brother, John E. Gampher and special Aunt, Margaret V. Shepherd. Jean is survived by her two sons, Mark Steve Spencer, Lillian, AL and Bruce Alan (Melissa) Spencer of Foley; three grandsons, Christopher Steven and Michael Lewis (Holly Jo) Spencer, Pensacola and John Brownlee, New Jersey; five great grandchildren of Pensacola, Kylie Lynn Williams, Lillien Elizabeth Williams, Caydon Paul Williams, Carlie Jean Spencer, and Macie Lanete Spencer; and two nephews, John Eric (Denise) Gampher of Alabaster, AL and Stephen Trevor (Dodi) Gampher of Pensacola and their children, Isabelle, Fox, Aidan, and Reid. In retirement Jean enjoyed her family and was an avid and frequent bridge player and loved to travel. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lillian, AL Services will be held at the United Methodist Church, 12770 N. Perdido St., Lillian, AL 36549 on November 6, 2021 at 2PM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
