Mrs. Betty Owens

March 29, 1934 - December 23, 2021

Betty Owens went home to be with our Lord on December 23, 2021 at home surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born on March 29, 1934 in Reform, Alabama, the oldest child of Stillman B. Hollingsworth and Eva Pierson Hollingsworth. Betty graduated from Pickens Co. High School, Reform, Alabama Class of 1952. In October 1953 she married James “Jim” Owens and celebrated 68 years of marriage. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, 5 siblings, a son, and a granddaughter. She is survived by her husband James “Jim” Owens, brothers Hugh Hollingsworth of Gordo, Alabama, B.F. Hollingsworth of Cottondale, Alabama. Her children Tim Owens (Jill Harvey Owens) of Bangkok Thailand, Brenda Owens Wilson (Paul Wilson) of New Smyrna Beach, and Robert Owens (Nancy Owens) of Foley. Betty is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Betty first and foremost was a woman who loved the Lord. She was an active member of First Bapist Church in Foley, Alabama where she taught Sunday school. Betty was a pastor’s wife and ministered alongside her husband. She was a WMU director and loved missions. Betty taught her children and grandchildren to love the Lord. Betty was an accomplished seamstress, taught cake decorating, and loved gardening and reading. Even though we will miss Betty greatly, we rejoice in knowing she is with our Lord worshiping Him until we are all together again.
