Mr. William Warren

William E. Warren (Bill) of Gulf Shores, AL., died peacefully May 29, 2018 at his home in Gulf Shores, AL at the age of 90. Bill was a devoted husband to his wife Norene E. Warren who preceded him in death 11 years ago. They had been happily married for 54 years at the time of her passing. Together they taught their 5 children how to be a loving family and enjoy life. A native of Decatur, IL , Bill was a graduate of Millikin University before starting his very successful career at Illinois Power Co. which he retired from in 1990. He and Norene (Nonie to her friends and family) then spent most of their time at South Side Country Club (Decatur, IL) playing golf and tennis. They introduced their children to the game of golf and enjoyed watching them through many successes. Bill enjoyed the outdoors camping, boating, fishing and travelling. He had a goal to see all of the National Parks, a task he nearly completed. Bill had a wonderful sense of humor leaving those behind with memories of fun and laughter. In 2000, Bill and Norene moved to Gulf Shores, AL where they had been vacationing since the early 1970’s. They lived in their new home on Cotton Creek Golf Club in Gulf Shores where they enjoyed their retirement years with many dear friends. Bill was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church and will be buried next to Norene at Pine Rest Cemetery. Surviving are his son Tom (and Ruth) Warren of Fort Collins, CO; daughters Terry Ostergard of Juno Beach, FL; Tracy Mosser and Toni (and Lee) Eichenauer of Decatur, IL; Tami (and Dave) Donnelly of Pensacola, FL; brother Larry (and Shirley) Warren of Joliet, IL; sister Mary Sue (and Chuck) Albright of Springfield, IL and eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to his wife Norene, Bill was preceded in death by his brother Robert and son Timothy. He couldn’t physically stay with us forever but his stories, humor and love will forever be fond memories for all who have known him. He and his beloved Nonie are golfing and dancing together once again. A private family memorial service will be held in the coming weeks followed by a celebration of life gathering for friends and family at his home.
