Mr. Wallace "Randy" Mullis

Wallace “Randy” Mullis was born on September 16, 1961 in Atlanta, Georgia to loving parents, Wallace “Buddy” Mullis and Carolyn Mullis. Randy was “big” brother to Ron Mullis who is 8 years his junior. Growing up in and and around Atlanta, Randy enjoyed pitching for his baseball team and riding his horse, “Blue Boy”. As a teen, Randy enjoyed riding motorcycles and learning to work on cars with his father. After attending Heritage High School, and a brief stint in the United States Marine Corps, Randy chose to follow in his dad’s footsteps by earning a Master Plumber and Gasfitter certificate. After gaining experience working for his father on several prominent Atlanta landmarks including Six Flags Over Georgia and Hartsfied Jackson International Airport, Randy founded Mullis Plumbing and Heating which he owned and operated during his remaining time in Georgia. While residing in Georgia, Randy’s oldest son, Randall Adam Mullis, was born to he and his former spouse, Linda Mullis. Though Randy and Linda’s marriage was not permanent, Linda and Randy did share a lifelong friendship and unfailing love and support for Adam. Randy moved to Gulf Shores, Alabama in 1989 and immediately became firmly rooted in the community. Randy founded Coastal Plumbing and Heating in 1994 – a business he owned and operated -oftentimes with the help of his sons - until he became ill in 2020. Cody Randall Mullis, Randy’s second son was born in 1992 and was followed six years later by the birth of Colton Shane Mullis in 1998. With sons Cody and Colton, Randy was able to share his childhood passion for baseball as he coached their Gulf Shores youth baseball teams over several years. Randy met the love of his life, Tina Mullis 25 years ago. Oftentimes referring to Tina as his “Huny Buny”, they married on April 14, 2012 and lived a life of love and happiness. Together, Randy and Tina built a beautiful waterfront home where they raised and nurtured their family while supporting one another unfailingly through good times and struggles. Randy loved life and was enthusiastic about anything that piqued his interest. No one could doubt his love for Alabama football when they heard Randy yell “Roll Tide!”. Likewise, anyone who saw his Dale Earnhardt display in his home built bar or the #3 tattoo on his upper arm would know he was passionate about NASCAR, Dale and that black Chevrolet race car. Randy’s dedication to the Gulf Shores community was evident during the years he coached Gulf Shores youth sport teams and would later be exemplified when he showed up “on scene” as a member of the Oyster Bay volunteer fire department. Randy will be missed by all the family and friends he preceded in his passing on January 20, 2025, but no one who knew Randy can say he didn’t leave us feeling a little better about ourselves and optimistic about the days ahead. Randy was preceded in death by his loving father, Wallace “Buddy” Mullis whom we all know was there to meet him last Tuesday. Randy precedes in death his loving mother, Carolyn Mullis, his devoted wife, Tina Mullis, his three admiring sons Adam, Colton and Cody, his beautiful granddaughter Merrit and his brother Ron and wife Michelle.
