Mrs. Verdie Alice Stinson Weaver

Mrs. Verdie Alice Stinson Weaver was born in Frisco City, Alabama and was the 12th of 18 children. She resided in Stapleton, AL. She was married for 43 years and was retired from Gayfers Department Store. She was a member of Stapleton Church of God. Verdie enjoyed her family most of all, but she also enjoyed quilting, working with her flowers, playing Yahtzee and fishing. She was the best Gangommee for her grandkids and loved spending time with them especially Christmas. The joy on her face as she watched them open, the gifts were priceless, and she was even guilty of playing jokes with a few of the family. We always joked that she started buying Christmas in January and was done by July. She certainly had the strongest work ethic and could work circles around most people and her niece Joan Johnson would often drive over to make sure she had not fallen out in the yard. She enjoyed sitting on her patio listening to the birds and watching the butterflies and even taking an occasional nap. She always looked forward to the October family reunion in Evergreen and was so disappointed when it stopped that she took it upon herself single handed to rent a venue to carry on the tradition. I could go on but everyone that knows her and our family understands that we are a unique family. A family this large is a true blessing. We love big, and she was the biggest. She will forever be missed in the hearts of many. Mrs. Weaver was preceded in death by her parents Ebb Lee and Verdie Burkett Stinson, stepmother Ila Stinson, husband Dennis Walker Weaver, son Ritchie Weaver, granddaughter Susie Wilkinson, brothers Chester Stinson, Gillis Stinson, Herman Stinson, Clifford Stinson, Therion Stinson, Percy Stinson, Eugene Stinson, sisters Bertha Asberry, Ruby Byrd, Opal Black, Merle Lesson, and Janie Finlayson. She is survived by her son Michael (Theresa) Weaver, daughters Denise Weaver (Tommy) Warren, and Susan Darlene (Dan) McEvoy, sisters Myriam Chandler and Lenora Booth, brothers Billy Ebb Stinson, and Randall Stinson, grandchildren Ritchie, Michelle, Stephanie, Lon, Sonya, Michael, Sallie, Aubrey, Nicholas, and Mikey, great grandchildren TJ, Mary Alice, Walker, Christine, Kamden, Kylie, Kinsley, Zennon, Sophia, Karlie, and Myra, great-great granddaughter Lily. Funeral services will be held from Oak Grove Baptist Church in Frisco City, Al on Wednesday August 7, 2024, at 1:00PM. The family will receive friends at the c church on Wednesday from 11 until 1:00PM. Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 6, 2024, starting at 5:00PM at Stapleton Church of God. Interment will be in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Frisco City, AL. Thank you for loving our mama.
