Martha Morgado

Our beloved Martha Ellen Morgado was called home suddenly to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 16, 2016. Martha was the daughter of the late Wally and Melva Rouse. Martha was born on March 26, 1945 in Mobile, Alabama, and raised in Foley, Alabama, a place that remained dear to her during her entire life. She met the love of her life, Jay Morgado, in Norfolk, VA while he was in the Navy. They were married for 47 years and are incredibly proud of their children. Her family was the focus of her life, and her most joyous accomplishment. She was a sweet, caring, and tender soul that always took care of the people that crossed her path. She was known for her hospitality and compassion to all people, as well as her cooking! She was an elegant woman who was an accomplished seamstress, real estate owner, and antiques dealer, and had several businesses that thrived under her direction. She had a passion for beautiful things, and making spaces pretty and comfortable. She was the heart of our family, and her nurturing presence will be missed every day. She is predeceased by her dear Aunt Ann Henderson, sister Didi Walker, and brother Charles Rouse. She is survived by her loving husband, Jay Morgado, Jr., daughters Pam Barnett, Dawn Bingham (Marc), Cindy Baxter (John), and son Martin Morgado III (Rosa), and all of her adoring grandchildren: Jack Bingham, Rex Bingham, Merlot Bingham, Evangeline Bingham, Pep Morgado, Altea Morgado, Tristan Morgado, Cole Baxter, Quinn Baxter, Taelynn Harris, and Gladys Guillen. She will also be greatly missed by her sister, Diane Skuse and brother Scott Rouse and his wife Lara, and her nephew Jake Rouse. Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, July 28th at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC at 10:00 am. A reception will be held in the church hall immediately after. We will receive family and close friends at our parents’ Charlotte residence from 1pm to 3pm. There will also be a memorial service and interment at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley, Alabama on Saturday, August 20th at 10:00 am.
