Mrs. Ilona Ann Lewis

Ilona left her family and friends on June 15, 2019 to embark on a butterfly journey to the Heavens to be with her husband and her father. Ilona being the third born of Bob and Irma Hinton, graduated from Robertsdale High School in 1975 and was a long time resident of Loxley, AL. Ilona loved to start everyday savoring that first cup of coffee and she always made time to call her Mom while having her coffee, they had a very special place in each other’s hearts. She spent most of her time reading books, her favorite book was Outlander and her favorite author was Stephen King. She also enjoyed watching her favorite movies with her friends, her sisters Ingrid and Monica and we can’t forget her love for Ingrid’s fur babies Dixie & Nancy Grace. She loved her late night phone calls and especially the ones on Sundays from her best friend and little brother Brad. Brad and Ilona had such a special bond that began when he was just a little thing, at 5 years old he followed her everywhere. Her real love though was for her flowers. Every year at springtime, she would always say “I have to wait until my pecan tree blooms and no sooner “at which time she looked forward to redoing her patio, painting her pots and filling her flowerbeds full of beautiful flowers, but her favorite flower was the Stargazer Lilly. Ilona’s strong love for butterflies not only showed in the flowers that she planted so her beautiful winged friends would come visit her, but that love was also shown with the many butterfly decorations and whatnots she had throughout the inside and outside of her home. Ilona’s most favorite of all was to get in that little red 2002 Camaro with the T-tops and her favorite music blaring and go to her mom’s (Irmgard Hinton) to have her famous cup of coffee and just visit and have dinner with the rest of her immediate family. She was married to the love of her life Kenneth “Lewie” Lewis for 29 years and although they never had any children of their own, they did have two four legged children, a cat named Pepper and a dog named Jo-Jo. Ilona was a simple person, who was kind, generous, big hearted and very family oriented. Ilona had the face of an angel and had the most beautiful smile one would not forget. She was always there for you no matter what the situation, no matter what time of the day and no matter what she may have been going through in her own life. As the time grew closer for her to take her butterfly journey, she still believed that you should live every day, like the song says, LIVE LIKE YOU WERE DYING. She never wanted to say the words goodbye she always said Later, so from Ilona to all of her family and friends, she says I love you and I will see you later. Ilona Ann Lewis She is survived by her step-daughter, Rachel D'leigh Lores her mother, Irmgard Hinton two sisters, Ingrid Jackson and Monica Howard (Steve Howard) two brothers, Robert Hinton and Bradley Hinton (Thomas Wood) one nephew, Michael Stephens (April Brill) and two great nephews, Ethan and Gabriel Stephens and a great niece, Makayla Stephens.
