Mr. Howard Earl Larinan Sr.

Howard Earl Larinan Sr., 88, of Foley, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2026. Born on November 12, 1937, Howard was a dedicated veteran who retired from the United States Air Force with the rank of E-8 (Senior Master Sergeant). He served his country with honor and pride, carrying that same sense of duty, reliability, and quiet leadership into his civilian life in Baldwin County. A lifelong resident of the area, Howard remained deeply committed to veterans and community service. He served faithfully for 17 years as Adjutant of American Legion post 99 in Foley, where he was fondly remembered as the "glue that held us together" and the dependable "go-to" person for members and fellow veterans alike. His dry humor, unwavering loyalty, and steady presence made a profound impact on the post and everyone he served alongside. He also stayed active with the Elks Lodge and other local organizations. Howard found great fulfillment in volunteering, community events, and spending cherished time with his family. He is survived by: -his son, Howard Earl Larinan Jr. of Foley -his grandson, Howard Larinan III -his great-grandchildren: Christian, Ethan, Jazzlyn, Julian, and Karma Larinan -other extended family members -many dear friends from American Legion Post 99, the Elks, and throughout Baldwin County Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Hary and Annie Geneva Larinan; his wife, Cynthia Larinan; his son, James Larinan; and his grandson, Shaun Larinan. A man of integrity, service, and quiet generosity, Howard will be remembered for his honorable military career, his tireless dedication to veterans, his reliable leadership at Post 99, and the warmth he brought to every gathering. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley. Following the service, American Legion post 99 will host a lunch at the post for family, friends, and comrades to celebrate Howard's life and share memories. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to American Legion Post 99 (2101 S McKenzie St. Foley, AL 36535) or a veterans' organization in Howard's memory.
