Mr Howard Gann

Howard Gann, 86, of Foley, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 14, 1939, in Itawamba County, Mississippi, Howard was the son of the late Noonen Carlton and Helen Green Gann. He graduated from Whitehaven High School in Memphis, Tennessee, and proudly served four years in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Howard embarked on a distinguished 37-year career with PepsiCo Frito-Lay. His work took him and his family across the globe, and he retired in 1997 as the Director of Operations over Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for PepsiCo Foods International. Howard was also a well-respected local businessman for 29 years. In his youth, Howard played high school football and developed a lifelong love for boats and boat racing. He cherished taking his family out on his boat and never missed a grandchild & birthday party. An avid gardener with a green thumb, Howard took great joy in cultivating and growing many plants. Howard was a devoted family man and the patriarch of his family. Unconditional in his love, he served as a husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, protector, provider, mentor, and leader. He was the kind of man you never needed to apologize to—you simply asked for his help, and he was there. While his passing leaves a massive void in many places, his memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him. Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Noonen Carlton and Helen Green Gann, and his brother, Bill Gann of Victoria, Mississippi. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jeannette R. Gann of Foley, AL; two sisters, Kathleen Morrow of Southaven, MS, and Donna Gann Britt (John) of Panama City Beach, FL; and his children, Howard Anthony Gann of Foley, AL, and Annette Gann Irwin (Brandon) of Foley, AL. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Mason Kane Hodo (Bayle), Caleigh Raquel Gann, MiKayla Keynan Hodo, Thomas Anthony Gann, Abigail Faith Bixler-Gann, Lennox Hayes Irwin, and Landyn Harper Irwin; three great-grandchildren: Dean Howell Boyer, Chloe Renee Boyer, and Valor Ross Lipscomb; as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service to honor Howard's life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., visitation starting at 10:30 a.m., at Pine Rest Funeral Home, located at 16541 US-98, Foley, Alabama. Family and friends are also warmly invited to gather and raise a glass to a life exceptionally well- lived at a Celebration of Life. This will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026—to celebrate what would have been Howard's 87th birthday—from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at The Keg Lounge and Grill, located at 26976 Canal Road, Orange Beach, Alabama.
