Mrs. Helen Michelle Herrington

Helen Michelle Brewer Herrington, age 49, passed away in Mobile, Alabama on Saturday, July 28, 2018, after a hard-fought and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by her family. She was born in Columbia, Mississippi to Bob and Mae (Duncan) Brewer on March 10, 1969. She attended Ocean Springs High School. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and went on to become an amazing elementary school teacher. She was honored by the Mobile County Council of Parent Teacher Association as "Teacher of the Year" for the Anna F. Booth Elementary School for the school year of 2016-2017. Michelle was a fierce and strong-willed person with so much compassion for others. Michelle will be remembered for her feisty and giving spirit and she was such a force in the lives of those she loved and those who loved her. Her presence could never be ignored because she was so magnetic and full of life. Even in her struggle with cancer, she was always her bubbly sassy self, and she always did everything she could to help anyone who needed a hand. One of her enjoyments with her husband, Eddie, was their involvement with Mobile Mardi Gras and the Order of Inca. She was honored to be the Queen of Inca for the year of 2018. She also loved to read and spending time with her many friends, family and her fur babies; Max, Jake, and Sable Mae. Michelle was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Mae Brewer, her maternal grandparents Wallace Parker “Jack” and Margaret “Lizzie” Duncan, her paternal grandparents Robert and Mamie Brewer and her brother Michael Simmons. Left to honor Michelle and remember her love is her husband of 26 years Eddie; two children Hillary (Drake) Herrington Greer and Mason Herrington; sister Margaret (Alan) Wood; brother Ricky (Diane) Brewer; niece and nephew LeAnn (Ken) Smith and Stewart (Amber) Wood; great-niece, Lana Smith; great-nephews Blake and Brayden Wood; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends. Michelle’s family would like to thank their friends that have supported them for the past three years and appreciate their continued love and support. They would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Southern Cancer Center and Providence Hospital for providing outstanding care and support for Michelle. In lieu of a funeral service, a Celebration of Life that will be held in her honor and will be announced at a later date. “That we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us.” – Helen Keller
