Mrs. Dora Popee

Dora Popee of Gulf Shores, Alabama went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2024. Mrs. Popee was a 1956 graduate of Fairfield High School, Birmingham Alabama. She attended Alverson Draughon Business college where she mastered the new art of Key punch operations. She enjoyed working long term clerical assignments for Kelly Services in Birmingham, Alabama. Following days of working on clerical assignments, she discovered she enjoyed helping customers at Walmart. Mother stayed with the Walmart family as a Greeter for over 25 years. Mother’s Hobbies included: watching the Oak Island Mystery Series and the RED TV Country/Gospel Singing shows, shopping at the Tangier Outlet, and eating out with her family. She enjoyed planting tropical flowers and trees in her front yard garden. Mother was so proud of her neighborhood and her new home. She enjoyed her son, Thomas Popee Jr’s home building, she supervised daily the construction of the new home next door and who was there. Mother had a young, determined spirit. She was a very caring and outgoing person that never met a stranger. Mother’s quote on life was “Just stay busy doing what you love, and you will never grow old”. She is survived by her daughter Felicia J “Lisa” Popee, son Thomas (Kelly Brown) Popee, Jr; three grandchildren, Jacob Alexander Popee, Jonathan Thomas Popee, and Braegan Alexandra Popee of Gulf Shores Alabama. Mrs. Popee’s mother was the late Gladys I. Gordon and father the late Cranford W. Gordon. Mother is the oldest of six children. Survivors include brothers W.C Gordon, Donald R. Gordon and Sisters Linda S. Gordon, Billie Jo Gordon, and baby brother Terry F Gordon. Mother was a Christian and lifetime member of the Methodist Church. Our mother loved and served Jesus caring for people. Mother loved us with all her heart. She was mine and my brother Tom’s very best friend. *I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, "Do not fear, I will help you." Isaiah 41:13 *Rejoice evermore. Services are Friday, September 13, 2024, officiated by Barbara Clinton, Former Director of Senior Ministry, Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, with obituary read by Felicia “Lisa” Popee.
