Mrs. Bonnie Dell Morris West Sweeney

Bonnie Dell Morris West Sweeney, 101 years young, passed away peacefully on November 20,2025 at her daughter's home in Foley, AL surrounded by loving family. A devoted wife, mother, ganny, and great-ganny, Bonnie was born August 23,1924 to Benjamin and Nola Morris in Muskogee, Ok. Bonnie is survived by her children, Billy F. West (Barbara) of Memphis, TN and Jeannie W. Davis of Foley, AL; her grandchildren, Leslie P. Jordan of Boulder, CO and Ashley D. West of Atlanta, GA; and great grandchildren Reagan, Drake, and Sullivan West of Charleston, SC. She was preceded in death by spouses Angus Zeno West and Ivan J. Sweeney; brother, B. Frank Morris Jr.; sister, Berniece Morris Clelland; and grandson, Layne M. West. Bonnie, a cherished and revered member of the community, was a Government Civil Service Accounting Tech for 25 years in Mobile, AL. She was an amazing seamstress with a special talent and love for monogramming. After her retirement from the Civil Service, she had an in-home Monogramming business for 21 years serving all of Baldwin County. She loved crossword puzzles, solitaire, anything with numbers, and playing cards. She would regularly challenge her grandchildren to an exciting game of "speed!", they loved playing games with their "Ganny"! God, her Bible, and her Billy Graham devotional were a daily practice that she was delightfully committed to her entire life. She enjoyed baking and was well known for her pound cakes, biscuits, and mini pecan pies. She also made the best fried shrimp and shrimp burgers ever! Most people did not know she was an avid slalom water-skier and would slay the Tensaw river, where we had a cabin on Gravine Island! But her most favorite thing of all was ballroom dancing!! She was on that dance floor just about every night of the week and loved to "cut a rug"! Her favorite dance was the "jitterbug" (ie. East Coast Swing). She always said the most difficult thing about going to a dance was trying to decide what in the world she was going to wear!! She was always the best dancer on the dance floor.... Sugar Foot! She is loved so, very, very much and we will miss her immensely, as will all of her friends and others whose lives she touched so sweetly!! We are so blessed to have had her healthy and happy for as long as we did, telling jokes and giggling right to the end. The funeral service will be at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley, AL on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Viewing will be at 10am with Chapel/Graveside services at 11:00am. Celebration of life with family and friends directly after services at the family home on Angus West Lane in Foley.
